Bole Arabsa–ICT Park Road Project to Be Completed In-House force
The contract for the Bole Arabsa–ICT Park road construction project has been terminated, and the remaining work is now being carried out directly by the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority using its own internal workforce and resources.
Eng. Mulugeta Gebre, Construction Work Team Leader at the Eastern Road Construction Project Office, explained that the project was originally awarded to general contractor Alemayehu Ketema. However, due to slow progress, the contract was terminated, prompting the Authority to take over the remaining construction directly.
While the Project Office has assumed responsibility for the main roadwork, Eng. Mulugeta noted that three bridges along the route will be constructed under a separate contract.
The 6-kilometer project features a 60-meter-wide right-of-way that includes pedestrian walkways and green spaces. Sub-base laying is currently underway across the corridor.
Once complete, the road will serve as a vital shortcut for drivers traveling from Bole International Airport through Goro to the Bole Arabsa condominium housing complex and surrounding areas, significantly cutting down travel times and easing major traffic congestion along the central city–Goro–Arabsa route.
