Over 1,600 Kilometers of Construction and Maintenance Works Completed in the Past 12 Months

The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority surpassed its targets in the 2018 Ethiopian Fiscal Year (2025/2026) by executing various road construction and maintenance projects covering a total distance of 1,666.10 kilometers.

Although the authority originally planned to carry out construction and maintenance works covering 1,303 kilometers during the fiscal year, it achieved superior performance by working day and night shifts to complete numerous road infrastructure projects beyond the initial plan.

Key Highlights of the Report

• Road Construction (Over 346 km Total):

  • 69 km of asphalt roads (including roads built around condominium housing areas)

  • 61 km of gravel roads

  • 108 km of cobblestone paving

  • 67 km of pedestrian walkway reconstructions

  • 27.3 km of bicycle paths

  • Improvements to roadside drainage networks

• Maintenance & Rehabilitation (Over 1,319 km Total):

  • 145 km of damaged asphalt road repairs

  • 42 km of gravel road repairs

  • 56 km of cobblestone road repairs

  • 582 km of drainage line clearing/cleaning

  • 10.12 km of drainage line renovation and repair

  • 435 km of road line painting

  • 29 bridge and retaining wall maintenance projects

  • 6 km of pedestrian safety barrier installations
