Experience-Sharing Forum Held on Namibia’s Road Asset Management System

Officials from Namibia’s road development sector visited the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority and shared their experiences in road asset management systems.

Speaking at the experience-sharing session, Engineer Sofia Belete, Head of Namibia’s Road Asset Management Sector, said the progress being made in road infrastructure development in Addis Ababa is highly impressive.

She further explained that Namibia has introduced scientific applications to effectively manage its project monitoring system, enabling the country to become one of the leading African nations in road infrastructure development and utilization.

Engineer Sofia also noted that the implementation of digital systems in Namibia’s road sector has enabled the country to carry out road construction and maintenance projects more effectively. She said the digital system has also helped improve budget utilization and accountability, contributing to better-quality project implementation.

She added that Namibia would continue working in cooperation with the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority in the future.

For his part, Engineer Mohammed Awel Seyid, Deputy Director General of the Road Asset Management Sector at the Authority, expressed his appreciation for the experience-sharing session. He said the Authority would work to adopt similar technological innovations and improve the management, preservation, and utilization of Addis Ababa’s road assets.
