Construction Continues on Welete–NOC Station Road Project
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2026 (AACRA): Construction is underway on the Welete–NOC Station road project, which marks the second phase of the broader Ayer Tena–Kara–Welete road development corridor.
The project had previously faced delays due to right-of-way clearance issues and other associated challenges.
It will be recalled that the first segment of the corridor, spanning 3.3 kilometers from Ayer Tena to Kara, was constructed under the direct in-house capacity of the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority, paved with first-stage asphalt, and opened to traffic.
Work is now actively progressing on the remaining 2.37-kilometer section stretching from Welete to the NOC Gas Station.
Once completed, the road is expected to enhance network connectivity across the western region of the city and significantly improve road infrastructure access for local residents.
