Asphalt Overlay Works Underway...

Addis Ababa, November 2, 2026 (AACRA): The construction of the Ayer Tena – Kara road project, which has resolved long-standing governance and development demands of the local community, has entered its final phase.

The 3.3-kilometer road project extends from Ayer Tena Square to Welete. Prior to the onset of the previous rainy season, a first layer of asphalt was laid on the stretch from Ayer Tena through Kara to the Degnet Condominiums area, providing the community with improved road access.

Currently, wearing-course asphalt overlay operations are underway day and night, with intensive efforts focused on fully completing the remaining construction work, including pedestrian walkways, in the near future.

Similarly, construction on the remaining section of the project, extending from Welete to the NOC station, has commenced and is actively progressing.

Upon full completion, this road project will relieve local traffic congestion and significantly improve traffic flow along the Jimma Ber corridor.
